My life with horses began at age 9 with Sparky. He was true to his name. Riding him was the game. With lessons, I was on my way to learning, caring and loving my relationship with horses. In my twenties, I was a partner in owning Morgans. They were versatile, proud and showy. Then there were years trail riding with my sister and her horses.  I came to VEWS in 2016 for solace and structure after retirement. I learned so much more working with rescues. What rewards I receive are watching VEWS grow in training volunteers, organizing and marketing skills, consistency with caring and training the rescues, and finding them forever homes. I kept thinking it was time to leave VEWS, but the next scared or dazed rescue would appear giving us another challenge. I realized I have a passion to understand what each new rescue needs, to share my knowledge with others, and watch how our consistent efforts transition these equines into adoption. This is VEWS.
