VEWS UPDATES

Our VEWS farrier Kendal Wynne is an important part of our team! Along with our vet, Kendal helps ensure our rescue horses receive the very best hoof care and maintenance. Being a farrier is a demanding job as Kendal shoes, trims, and assesses hoof health. She also works with us to ensure horses have good manners while receiving farrier care. Many of our horses arrive with serious hoof and soundness issues and have not received farrier care for a while. Kendal is a valued member of our team as we prepare the horses for their forever homes. Thank you Kendal!

VEWS VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH SPOTLIGHT
MARCH

Please join us in celebrating Lexa Campana, VEWS Volunteer of the Month for March!
Lexa has been a VEWS volunteer since June 2024 and currently volunteers two shifts a week and serves on our Barn Crew. Lexa's shift lead shared the following comments: "Lexa is dependable, a team player, versatile in shift responsibilities, and able to handle any of our herd with calmness and direction.", and our Equine Director, who manages the barn crew, shared this: "Lexa has been a great addition to our barn crew! Her willingness to pitch in and help however it's needed has been so appreciated."
Thank you, Lexa, for all you do for VEWS and VEWS horses!
In Lexa's words: "I started riding horses when I was 8 years old in the USPC Championships in Commonwealth Park, Virginia. I have always loved horses and in some way, my life seems to always gravitate back toward my love of equines. I started with VEWS believing it would be a great fit for my niece and I to bond. It certainly was a wonderful experience. When she went back to school I decided to continue on with VEWS. I love the feeling of being a part of something greater than myself and being surrounded by an organization that feels like a family. I am so grateful for the weekly experiences I get to have with the horses and fellow volunteers."
