VOLUNTEER WITH VEWS
VEWS is an all-volunteer non-profit organization. Our volunteers are vital to fulfilling our mission, and we are always looking for dedicated and compassionate horse lovers to help care for our rescue horses!

If you have a passion for horses, a desire to learn, and would like to join our devoted team of volunteers, please submit a volunteer application today!

Due to the nature of working with rescue horses, VEWS does not accept volunteers under the age of 18 years old. All volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Liability Release form prior to their first orientation session.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of working with rescue horses, our general volunteers do not ride our horses. Experienced riders may be asked to join our riding for rehabilitation group.
BARN SHIFTS
Help with hands-on horse care. There are daily morning and evening shifts that entail cleaning stalls, feeding, and grooming the horses. Training is provided, and we follow the natural horsemanship principles. All volunteers are asked to make a repeating weekly commitment to a shift in our rehab barn on a long-term basis. Each shift involves lots of hands-on care with the horses and lasts about two hours.
HORSE TRAINING
Many horses that come to us will not have received proper training in their former life. It is the intention of VEWS to provide proper ground and under saddle training, where necessary, to ensure the horse has the best chance of being adopted and finding their forever home.
FUNDRAISING
Help organize and work fundraising events like formal fundraising events, information/merchandise booths, sell raffle or event tickets, concessions, sales and other special events.
ORIENTATION
New volunteers are required to attend 2 consecutive orientation shifts, both of which are held on Sunday afternoons at our rehab barn.
MARKETING/MEDIA
Help with website and social media marketing and promotion efforts.
NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP
VEWS volunteers are trained to utilize natural horsemanship principles that involve working with horses using their natural instincts and communication methods, emphasizing communication over physical force.
FOSTER
Volunteers are needed periodically to foster long-term VEWS horses on their private property to make stall space for new rescues
EDUCATION
VEWS requires all volunteers to attend a minimum of 2 volunteer education sessions throughout each calendar year. A variety of training sessions are offered on site throughout the year. Volunteer orientation counts as 1 educational session for your first year’s requirement.
